Imagers

This is a content presentation system built using an infrared camera vision system tied to a Flash application. As users wave their hands over the projection surface, they wipe away a black and white image, revealing the color version. User wiping also triggers the appearance of several content blobs, which give interesting facts about animals and plants as they relate to the major theme of each installation.

My involvement with this project:

  • Created the Flash system to present content to users
  • Prototyped the projection system, camera system, and infrared lighting
  • Specified the protocol telling Flash the position of all detected objects
  • Built a glowing and receding reveal mask system in Flash
  • Final installation and testing of 4 Imagers at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park
