My digital media final project at San Francisco State was this ultrasonic drawing system. I had spent a few weeks experimenting with the Arduino microcontroller and, for this assignment, coupled it with three Ping))) ultrasonic sensors. The concept was that locational information could be read by the sensors and then Flash could use that information in an interesting way.

What I am demonstrating in this video is that the sensors can detect the position of both a tube and of my hand. I then switch from the positional software to the drawing system I created and do a quick painting in Flash. This video is not the best quality (shot with a digital still camera in video mode) so here is what the finished 'painting' looks like:
